I’m Taiya Collier — writer, storyteller, and daydreamer. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been crafting worlds and chasing stories that make you feel something. My writing dives into the messy, magical, and sometimes terrifying parts of being human — whether that’s through a fantasy epic or a creative non-fiction piece.
A Bit of Background
As a young Black author, I’ve always believed in the power of storytelling to create change. I didn’t often see myself reflected in the stories I loved, so I set out to change that. My journey has been anything but typical — attending three different colleges, balancing academics with my passion for writing, and carving out my own path in the literary world. Now, with six books under my belt, I’m dedicated to writing stories that center diverse voices and challenge the norms of traditional publishing.
My mission is simple: to make the writing industry more inclusive for people of color and young aspiring writers. I believe that every voice deserves to be heard, and I’m passionate about creating space for new perspectives to shine. Whether through my own novels or by advocating for underrepresented storytellers, I hope to inspire the next generation to embrace their creativity, take up space, and reshape the narrative — one story at a time.
